HOW TO AVOID TILT?

Many poker players deal with bad beats differently. Avoiding tilt is the process of avoiding playing bad poker after losing a hand or several poker hands.

Do you suffer from going on tilt? I have seen several people playing good poker and then all of a sudden within an hour, they go on tilt and lose all of their poker chips (money). Nobody wants to go on tilt and lose for the night or poker session. An over all winning poker player doesn't go on tilt.

Avoid poker tilt by following these poker tips!

Play poker with your own money! You never want to gamble with somebody else's money. If you lose one hand that costs you $20, this will put pressure on you to win that $20 back as soon as you can. If you play with your own money, you will be able to relax and take as much time needed to win your money back.

Play poker at the right time! No matter if you are playing poker live at a Casino or playing online poker, you need to play at the right time. Don't try playing a few hands while you are on lunch break or have time before a meeting or event. Don't play while your distracted by anything. If you want to win at poker and not go on tilt, you need to concentrate. You need the time to focus on the poker game and nothing else. Wait until you have special "me time" to play. Don't rush your self and don't play too long. Don't play poker when you are tired. I have seen so many people falling asleep at poker tables and they never walk out with poker winnings.

Play poker when you are in a good mood. Avoid tilt by playing poker when you are happy and not upset by anything. If you just had a fight with your spouse or friend, don't play poker because you are already upset and a bad beat will make your attitude worse. You are more likely to go on tilt when you are in a bad mood.

Realize that you can't always win every poker hand! Avoid tilt by keeping an open mind and realizing that you will get some bad beats in poker. Deal with the bad beats in a reasonable manner. Dealing with bad beats and moving to the next hand without getting mad will help you avoid tilts. Ask your self "What did I do wrong in that hand?" If you can't think of anything that you did wrong, move on to the next hand with no more thoughts of the previous bad beat. If you know you did something wrong to lose the previous hand, remember it and don't do it again. Make it a lesson learned. We all learn from our mistakes.
